Delhi Witnesses Cloudy Sky, Thunderstorms, Light Rain Likely Today

Delhi witnessed a cloudy sky on Friday morning with the weather department predicting thunderstorms and duration of light rain the day.

The city received sporadic drizzle during the night, since the minimum temperature was established at 22.8 degrees Celsius, 1.8 notchs above normal.

In the 24 -hour period that ended at 8.30 am, a meteorological station in Mayur Vihar registered a 5.0 mm rain, while Pritampura received a rain of 1.0 mm, Chordination to the Department of Meteorology of India (IMD).

The city’s main weather station in Safdarjung reported only a rain trace, he added.

The humidity relative to 8.30 am was 68 percent.

The weather department has predicted electric storms and light rains for the day, with the maximum temperature that is expected to settle around 37 degrees Celsius.

The drizzle on Friday kept the mercury under a check, which relieved people of the abrasor wave heat witnessed the duration in recent days.

On Monday, the maximum capital of the capital touched 40 degrees Celsius for the first time this season, marking a heat wave situation that persisted for three consecutive days.

On Wednesday, the city registered its warmest night in three years, with the minimum temperature at 25.9 degrees Celsius. The air quality was recorded in the moderate category since the air quality index (AQI) at 9 am was 172.
