Three members of a family died and one member was injured after the house where they resided on fire in Erumely on Friday. The deceased were identified as Sathyapalan, 53, his wife Seethamma, 50, and his daughter Anjali, 26, residents of Sreenipuram in Kanakappapalam near Erumely.

Police said the fire exploded around 1 PM Seethamma died in Burns’s place. Sathyapalan and Anjali, who suffered serious injuries, were transferred to the Kottayam Medical College hospital (MCH), but died at night.

The son of Sathyapalan, Unnikuttan, 22, was also injured in the fire and is under treatment in the MCH. The preliminary reports suggested that soon in the day, a young man, along with his friends, had come to the house and expressed his desire to marry Anjali.

After his departure, there was a heated argument, which led to the outbreak of the fire. The neighbors tried to turn off the fire pouring water, but it was in vain. The front closed from the inside and the neighbors opened it. At first, Anjali and Unnikuttan were hospital tasks, with Unnikuttan that supported 20% burns. Sathyapalan and Seethamma were found later inside the house.

Anjali had returned from abroad only three days ago. The cause of the fire remains uncle.
