Alappuzha Collector submits Vembanad rejuvenation plan to Chief Minister

A report prepared by the Alappuzha district administration for the conservation of Lake Vembanad was presented to Prime Minister Pinarayi Vijayan by the Alex Varghe district collector on Friday.

The document includes a summary of the activities organized in the district under the auspices of the district administration and the local self -government agencies, together with the recommendations presented by the expert committees for the rejuvenation of the lake.

Previously, as part of the rejuvenation project of Lake Vembanad, eight subcommittees trained after a workshop that brought together political and cultural leaders, environmental scientists, farmers, fishermen and representatives. Subcommittees focused on agriculture, biodiversity, sanitation, water resources, fishing, tourism, disaster mitigation and recommendations with income and proposals for project conservation projects.

Revised suggestions

“The expert committee reviewed the short and long -term suggestions presented by the subcommittees, after which the final report was presented to the state government,” Varghese said.

The report includes main recommendations, such as establishing bio-basements, protecting aquatic species and other species that face threats of extinction, controlling the growth of aquatic invasive species, establishing wastewater plants in Kuttal’s sway.

Organic Agriculture

It also suggests promotion organic farming on gradual base, preparing a Crop Calendar, Implementing Integrated Farming of Paddy, Fish, Duck, and Vegetables, Adopting Good Agricultural Practices, Introduction Climate Larming Methods, Supplying Thegods, Famate Things, Pharming Methods, Pharming Methods, Pharming Methods, Famods, Pharming Methods, Famods, Pharming Methods, Famods, Famods, Famods, Famods, Famods, Famodos, Famods, Pharm Famods, Famods. Project to control water and salinity pollution, establish a vembanad wetland interpretation center and guarantee the protection against floods caused by rainwater and tide entry.

As part of the rejuvenation project of Lake Vembanad, 28.72 tons of plastic waste and eliminated from the water body were collected with the help of volunteers in recent months.
