The Army Welfare Housing Organization (AWHO) has expressed its willingness to assume the “complete financial burden for both the demolition and reconstruction” of the twin towers of the Chander Kunj army in Silversand Island, Vyttila.
The organization clarified its position in a request for review presented by the residents before the Superior Court of Kerala on a verdict approved by the Court on February 3. The court had ordered the demolition and reconstruction of the twin towers after structural problems in them. The AWHO pointed out that the ₹ 175 Crore entitled in its judicial allegations cannot be consulted by the final amount for the demolition and reconstruction of the buildings.
A committee, with the NSK UMHS district collector as coordinator, formed to supervise the demolition and proposed reconstruction, had declared in an affidavit that the ₹ 175 million rupees assigned by the AWHO was the entrance, and that it could be the entrance of Beste Beste de los Beste Beste Beste Del Beste Beste.
The Court also ordered the Association of Residents of the Army Towers to inform the District Committee on the number of owners who opt for a repurchase option in a week. “He pointed out that Subjees favors the repurchase option instead of waiting for the demolition and reconstruction process,” the court observed.
The court ordered the collector to convene a meeting within two weeks to end a timeline for demolition and reconstruction. “A clear image must cause an action course that details the various phases and a breakdown of the estimated costs calculated both for reconstruction and demolition.” The Committee will also inform the Awho about the amount required for the first phase within a week of making that decision, and the Awho will pay it properly.
The Court asked the collector to present a compliance report before May 20, 2025. The pendency of review requests will not prevent the committee from proceeding with the implementation of the other instructions in the sentence, including this order, the court observed.
