Police confiscated 390 kg or Gutkha of a SUV in Vayalur near Vriddhalam on Saturday night.
After a warning, a team was carrying out vehicles in Vayalur when they noticed a SUV and told the driver to stop. But the driver left the vehicle and fled the place.
When inspecting the vehicle, the police found 390 kg of Gutkha and tobacco products prohibited in ₹ 5.85 Lakh.
Police said the shipment was being transported to several parts of the Cuddalore district for sale.
Police have launched a car driver.
A case has been registered and more investigations are being activated.
