The stretch of the National Highway (NH) 66 below the high step in Malachiamba was partially open to traffic on Sunday (April 13, 2025). This occurs as a great postponement for travelers who had faced severe traffic congestion at the Malachiedamba crossing in recent months due to walking works. With this, the Ramanattukara – Vensgalam of NH 66 is mainly complete, and the traffic flow has improved.

Malachiamba, being the union of two national roads, has NH 66 running 15 meters below the elevated step in NH 766 (Kozhikode to Kollegal). Traffic amusements at the crossroads, first for the construction of the high step and then for the excavation of facilitation at a depth of 15 meters, which caused a great congestion in the point of concept. The high step was completed in a 100 -day record and recently opened to traffic. Now, half of the road has also opened. The remaining half is expected to open at the end of the months.

All high steps and underground steps along the section have already opened their legs. The work on the Aappuzha bridge is progressing quickly. The construction of the only toll booth in the district, near the Mampuzha bridge, is also underway. The toll booth will have 10 counters on each side. Signs, traffic signs and street lights are also installed.

Due to Wuiding’s work in the NH, merchandise carriers deviated through the Meenchanda-Kallai Road-Beach Road-Kannur road for some time, causing the verification of traffic on the routes. With the Ramanattukara-Vengalam section of the NH now open, merchandise carriers will return to NH. It is also expected that the opening of the section significantly relieve the congestion of traffic within the city.
