Northeast’s first robotic surgery facility unveiled in Assam

Assam’s Prime Minister Biswa Sarma, on Sunday (April 13, 2025) inaugurated the first Northast Robotics Surgery Center at the State Cancer Institute of the College and Medicine Hospital of Gauhati.

He said that the Robotic Surgery Unit, equipped with state -of -the -art teams for better cancer attention in the region, touched the right note for Bohag or Rongali Bihu celebrations.

“Assam is starting Bohag celebrations by dedicating the first Onco-Robotic Surgery Center of the Northeast of India at the Guwahathi Medicine Faculty. Our government hospitals will now offer low-cost procurements, highly precise and less incasive in X after dedicating the installation to people.

He said that facilities similar to the medical conferences in Dibrugarh of eastern Assam and Silchar from South Assam were approaching.

Health officials said that the Robotic Surgery Center was established for ₹ 14.99 million rupees under the National Cancer Prevention and Control Program, Diabetes, Cardiovascular Diseases and Cerebrovascular Accident. The installation offers improved precision, superior control and 3D visualization, allowing better results in cancer care.

The prime minister said that the state government is in the process of starting nursing universities in all cancer hospitals to guarantee adequate labor to handle high -end medical technology.
