Tamil Nadu’s 61-day annual fishing ban begins on April 15

The annual 61 -day fishing ban along the coast of Tamil Nadu in early April 2025. In Chennai, a total of 809 mechanized ships will remain on land until mid -June.

Meanwhile, the fishing department has directed traditional fishermen who do not fish in the waters of Andhra Pradesh since the State has also banned the traditional ship. In Tamil Nadu, traditional crafts can fish ban.

On Sunday (April 13), the last weekend before the ban, fish prices in the Kasimedu fishing port rose a lot. Seer fish (VANJARAM) sold to ₹ 900- ₹ 1000 to kilos, White Pomfret (Vellai Vavval) A ₹ 1100/kg, red snapper (Sankara) ₹ 500- ₹ 600/kg, and sardine (Mathi) A ₹ 100-20/kg.

Duration The prohibition period, with the non -availability of fish captured by fishermen of Tamil Nadu, the fish of Kerala and Karnataka are usually sold in the markets. People also go to fishing villages to buy fishermen while landing their boats.
