Belagavi police arrested a man from a Gujarat village for the position of deceiving two older people in the Belagavi district who finished their lives at home a few weeks ago.
The defendant, Chiag Jaravajbai Lakkad of the Surerat district, was arrested on Monday.
It is said that he forced Diego Nazareth, 83, and his wife Flaviana Nazareth, or Beedi’s village, near Khanapur, to transfer ₹ 6.1 Lakh to his account, after threatening them with digital judgment.
They were found dead in Beedi’s village in the Belagavi district on March 28, 2025.
They had left a detailed note, naming some people who had already harassed them who had money oed.
Police discovered that the victims had transferred money to an account in Balaji Industries in IDFC Bank.
ChiG had transferred this money to Varouse’s bank accounts using the mobile number linked to the bank account on their mobile phones.
Police have seized two mobile phones used to transfer this money.
The defendant has been sent in judicial custody.
