The Minister of Civil Supplies, Nadenndla Manhaha, has said that severe measures will be taken against the mills if the rules related to the acquisition of rice at the support price set by the Government and problems to the farmers flow. The announcement occurred in response to the complaints of farmers against several mills.
The minister, together with the collector of the district of NTR, G. Lakshmisha, and Mylavaram Mla Vasantha Venkata Krishna Prasad, inspected an acquisition center of rice in the Market Yard Gollapudi on Monday (April 14, 2025). He also toured Rayanapadu and Pydurupadu and spoke with farmers.
The minister pointed out that the Government of the NDA had always supported the rice mills and that the quotas that amount to ₹ 400 million rupees had also cleared their legs.
“But, the government will take strict measures if the mills bother farmers. Farmers can sell their rice at the support price in their Rytu Seva Kendra nearer,” he said.
The minister said that 38 Lakh of rice metric tons, with a value of ₹ 8.3 billion rupees, were obtained from 6 LAKH of farmers in the Kharif state.
The government ensures that the amount reaches a farmer within 24 hours after rice acquisition. In the district of NTR, the minister assured farmers that all rice would be acquired and that there was no need for any farmer to worry.
After Paddy’s last acquisition for the Kharif on March 31 was made, the government immediately changed the approach to the Nellore district, where a single bag of rice was not acquired in the last two years, said Manhahar, and added that the Government recently acquired 1,30,000 metric tons of rice.
