Five men held for assault on woman in village in Karnataka

Davangere police arrested five people in charge of assaulting a woman in public. The alleged assault took place on April 9 in the village of Tavarkere in the district of Davangre or Karnataka.

Multiple videos of a group of men were shared to attack and harass a woman dressed in Burkha in a corner of the street on social networks on April 14 and 15. They attack it with sticks and rubber pipes. They accused her of participating in an extramarital issue and were using abusive words.

The police tracked the woman and learned that the attackers were their relatives. She filed a complaint, which led to the defendant’s judgment.

The first information report of intimidation, insult, assault and attempt to kill against Mohammad Nayaz, Mohammad Gouse, Mohammad Rasool, Inayat Ullah and Chand Pasha. They have a leg sent in judicial custody.

On April 15, Superintendent or Police Uma Prashant told journalists in Davangere that an investigation is underway.
