Weapons, orphans and silence, that is all that remains after one of the most sensational murders in the modern Uttar Pradesh. No one would have thought that the political outbreak of Prime Minister Yogi Adityanath in 2023- “Mitti Mein Mila Denge” would soon become a self-fulfilling prophecy.
On the night of April 15, 2023, the Mafia Don Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf were killed in cold blood, low camera, in police custody, axis that the nation observed in shock. As on April 15, 2025, the second anniversary of the incident is fulfilled, News18 is immersed in what it has sincelife.
The murderers
The three assailants, Sunny Singh, Lavlesh Tiwari and Arun Maurya, were unpretentious and chillingly quiet. After pumping bullets to Atiq and Ashraf outside a hospital in Prayagraj, the trio did not try to flee. Instead, they surrendered, raising religious slogans.
“We did what we had to do. We did not flee. We are expected to come to judge us,” they said in their statement.
Since then, however, the defendant has remained silent. According to prison officials, the trio seems resigned to his destination. “None of them have expressed any desire to get out of jail. They never requested bail. They say they are fine here,” said a superior officer in Naini’s central prison.
Their families have also repudiated them. Lavlesh’s father told News18: “They did what they did: we have cut all the ties.” Sunny Singh’s parents did not offer public comments, while Arun Maurya’s family also said the same thing: “What he did on his own. We are not going to defend him.”
A legal tangle: a lawyer, two silent clients
Only one of the defendants, Sunny Singh, has a legal representation: lawyer Ratnesh Kumar Shukla, who maintains that his client is being falsely impacted.
“Sunny did not shoot. No weapon was recovered. This was a meeting managed by the state. He is innocent and will walk free,” Shukla told News18. The lawyer also raised groups on restricted access to case and customer files. “They do not allow me to meet my client. I have submitted multiple applications, but there is no answer in my leg. How do I prepare a defense in such a secret?”
The State, however, insists that the case is progressing transparently. Government lawyer Maryunjay Tripathi said: “The investigation has been exhaustive. The case is strong. The defendants are being tried on a fast -track court with a complete legal protocol.”
Within the 90 days of the incident, the police presented a 2,056 pages charges that included CCTV images, medical reports and more than 70 witness testimonies. One of the main intrigue points is still the Turkish Zigan gun used in the murder, a weapon spends and prohibited in India that remains under forensic scrutiny.
Ali Ahmed: The lonely son
In a parallel development, the second son of Atiq, Ali Ahmed, accused in the murder of Witness Day Umesh Pal, remains housed in lone confinement in the central jail of Naini. Isolated and under 24 -hour CCTV surveillance, ALI recently made an unusual request to the prison authorities.
“Hello, he asked for a LED TV, a colder, colder water, the rookies and the books. He said that he is completing the cut and wants to stay informed. But due to his high -risk status, the thesis demands were denied,” Digy said he inspected Thejes Srivastava, who recently, to whom he recently Recentatava, to whom RecentAtava, to whom RecentAtava, to whom Recentava, to whom Recentava, to whom Recentava, to whom Recentava, to whom Recentava, to whom Recentava. WHO-RECENTAVA, WHO-RECENTAVA, WHUJESHO-RECENTAVA, WHEMES.
According to officials, Ali is rarely visited. “Only a lawyer arrived a long time ago. No family member has with him,” said a superior officer.
Ali was being prepared for Atiq Political and is now the leader of the IS-227 gang. Hefaces 11 criminal cases and, according to reports, has confessed that he resisted participating in the murder of Umesh, Buter, was overloaded by his father.
“Abba asked me to participate in Pal’s attack of Umesh. I refused. Then, Abba told Asad to take the gun and join. He said: the children” ethers “can for me, they will also do mine.” I wanted the world to know: there is not one but five ATIQS, “Ali said in his statement.
The meeting that shocked the family
Asad Ahmed, the third son of Atiq and the one who finally carried out the murder of Umesh, was awarded by the STF Uttar Pradesh in a meeting in Jhansi on April 13, 2023 -Two -Two -dads before and Ashraf and Ashraf. Next to him, his nearby assistant Ghulam, also a defendant appointed in the murder of Pal de Umesh, was killed. The STF said they were both armed and opened fire for the first time in the operation. Police recovered foreign manufacturing guns, several cartridges and mobile phones from the site.
For many, the meeting marked a turning point in the fall of the Ahmed family as he did only days before the murder in the House of Atiq and Ashraf. “Asad was the most aggressive of the children of Atiq. His encounter sent a clear message that the State was going to dismantle the network, piece by piece,” said a high Stf official involved in the operation.
Umesh Pal Killers still in general
Even after two years, the key suspects in the murder of Umes Pal – Guddu Muslim, arm and know -remoin escaped. Atiq’s wife, Shaist Parveen, and sister -in -law Zainab are also fleeing, dodging the police and the search for STF.
The authorities have issued surveillance notices and rewards. “His capture remains a high priority,” said a senior STF official. “These fugitives represent the latest threads of the Ahmed Crime network.”
Shaist Parveen, Atiq’s wife, is still one of the most wanted fugitives in the country. Accused in multiple cases of conspiracy and extortion, it has been impossible to track since February 2023. With more than 200 million rupees in non -counted assets, its path has tasks for several states.
Minor children: future in limbo
Two of the youngest children of Atiq, Ahzan and Aban, who scored more than 70 percent in their Board exams, were removed from St. Joseph’s school after their father’s death. Now they live in the town of Hatwa with their aunt, Parveen Ahmed, under police protection.
After a ruling from the Supreme Court on October 10, 2024, Parveen received custody. The boys are trying to move on, but the shadow of their lineages persists. “These children have more trauma than any child,” said a senior youth house official, where they were initially housed.
