Delhi High Court denies bail to separatist leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan

The Superior Court of Delhi has denied the bond to the separatist leader Nayeem Ahmad Khan, hero in 2017 in a case of terrorist financing that involves the terrorist leader of Lashkar-E-Taiba, Hafiz Saeed.

The Court said that the long imprisonment of a subtray cannot be a reason to grant bond in such cases aimed at the destabilization of the country.

The defendant had challenge of an order from the Court of First Instance against his bail statement. He argued that the trial was not likely to conclude in the near future. Citing the period of custody suffered by him and his fundamental right to freedom, he said that bail should be granted.

Arrested in 2017

The leader of the Hurriyat Conference, Khan, was arrested on July 24, 2017 and is currently in judicial custody.

In the case registered in 2017 by virtue of the Anti -Terror Law, the illegal Activities Law (Prevention), the NIA affirmed that secessionists entered into a criminal conspiracy to instigate the general public to resort to violence and create an assaulted atmosphere for the spread of their agenda in the Kashmir valley.
