Eight injured after bus rams tree near Vaniyambadi town

Eight people were injured after a private bus rammed a tree on the main road of Alangayam in the town of Sunnambukulam, near the city of Vaniyambadi on Tuesday.

Police said the driver R. Murugan, 48, originally from the city, was leading KrishNagiri with 20 passengers when he lost control of the vehicle and rammed the tree.

In the impact, the driver and seven passengers who were sitting on the front were injured. The passersby rushed to the place and rescued the injured. They alerted Aangayam police. Later, the bus was removed from the place. The injured people entered the Taluk Government Hospital in the city of Vaniyambadi.

A case was recorded. The traffic was affected for about 30 minutes on the route.

An alternative bus for stranded passengers was organized. A probe is underway.
