J&K’s prime minister, Omar Abdullah, on Tuesday (April 15, 2025) was distanced from the move of party legislators to bring a motion of the postponement of the WAQF law within the J&K Assembly recently. Mr. Abdullah’s statement, however, evoked acute reactions of several opposition parties.
“The postponement motions are generally presented for the relationship of matters with the functioning of the government. But the WAQF law was promulgated by the government of India in Parliament, so it should have a bone raised through a different procedure route.
