Eight people, including the construction workers of India, were recognized with the Community Lifesaver Prize of the Singapore Civil Defense Force (SCDF) for saving 16 children and six adults from a fire in a Singapore shophyouse last Tuesday.

The children, between six and 10 years old, six adults, between 23 and 55, were rescued and served by the 18 people of the neighborhood house before the SCDF fire fighting team arrived.
A 10 -year -old Australian girl rescued from the fire, subsequently died in one of the hospitals.
“For all incidents of fire, especially this, time is the critical essence. So, we really thank the members of the public that responded that day, also before the arrival of SCDF,” said Colonel Tay Zhi Wei, the commander of the first SCDFER.
“You would have seen in many of the videos that have been circulating so much that their courage, their rapid action and their collective action really saved lives that day,” Channel News Asia summoned Colonel Taying in Stesday.
The SCDF Community Lifesaver award is given to the public members whose actions contributed to save lives and involved an element of self-risgo.
The children in the shelf were “trembling” and “wanted to jump” from the shelf, and the community responders shouted to stop, said the private rental driver Benson which helped bring the children to a safe place.
The construction worker Shakil Mohammad, 35, was at the top of the staircase with his fellow construction workers Hasan Emamul, 20, and Chinnappa Kannadasan, 32, who formed a human chain to take children to a safe place.
Shakil initially said he tried to get on the third floor of the building, but could not make him fit the fire on the second floor, and go to the stranger to help.
Shakil took a ladder from his close workplace when he realized that the scaffolding that other construction workers had taken to the scene was not high enough to reach the shelf.
“There was no escape” of the building, Shakil said, and saw a child trying to jump from the shelf. “I (I said):” Don’t jump. I will help you, “he said.
Ravi Kumar, a construction worker of India who helped her colleagues take the children to the ground, said she was thinking about her younger sister who is the same as them, and began to feel scared.
“I left lives and I still feel today,” Kumar said, adding that the girl who died from the fire was still trapped in her mind.
“Just when I’m working or eating, I’m thinking about her and I feel very sad,” said the 26 -year -old.
On April 9, Tomato Cooking School, one of the brands in Newton Show, said he was cooperating with research on fire.
The authorities are investigating the fire.
The 18 individuals recognized by SCDF were: Chinnappa Kannadasan; Hasan Emamul; Shakil Mohammad; Das taposh; Hasan Rajib; Ravi Kumar; Varuvel Christopher; Govindaraj Elangeshwaran; Muthukumar Mugesh; Inderjit Singh; Sivasami Vijayaraj; Nagarajan Anbarasan; Subramanian Saranraj; Islam Shafiqul; Rameshkumar Subramanian; Benson lo; Shaik Amirudin Bin Kamaludin and Dr. Laura Biffin.
