One killed, over 20 injured as bus carrying Sabarimala pilgrims from Karnataka overturns in Kerala

A 45 -year -old man was killed and more than 20 suffered wounds when a private bus in which they were traveling near Erumely in Kottayam, Kerala, on Wednesday, police said.

The bus carried pilgrims from Karnataka to the Ayyappa temple in Sabarimala and the accident occurred around 6.30 am

The road on which the accident occurred has acute curves and a steep slope and, while sailing, the bus got out of control and turned to the side of the road, said an Erumely Police Station officer.

“Five people who suffered serious injuries were tasks for Kottayam Medical College and another 18 with minor cuts and bruises received first aid in nearby hospitals,” said the officer.

There were about 32 pilgrims, including seven children, on the bus, he added.
