The Minister of Transportation of the Unión Road and Roads, Nitin Gadkari, described on Wednesday the progress in the Silkyara Blessed-Barkot Road tunnel, a historic milestone, saying that this transformative tunnel will save an hour of travel time.
The progress in the Silkyara Blessed-Barkot Road tunnel, where 41 workers were trapped for more than two weeks in 2023, was achieved on Wednesday, with the excavation of both sides completed.
A ceremony was a hero to mark the advance. The day also saw the consecration ceremony of the Baba Baukhnag temple in the mouth of the tunnel.
The two ceremonies attended the Prime Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami.
He said that the workers trapped inside the tunnel in 2023 could be rescued due to the blessings of Baba Baukhnag, and the steps will be tasks to change the name of the tunnel after the deity.

The workers were trapped after a part of the tunnel under construction collapsed on November 12, 2023. They were rescued on November 28.
