PDP Chief Mehbooba Mufti Slams Waqf Amendment Bill: "Robbery" Against Minorities? | WAQF Act

The head of the PDP, Mehbooba Mufti, has strongly criticized the bill of the WAQF amendment, qualifying it as “robbery” against minorities and Muslims. The bill aims to amend the 1995 law and improve WAQF properties administration in India. Mufti’s comments occur in the midst of the general opposition to the bill, with 232 members voting against him in the Lok Sabha. The Grand Mufti of Jammu and Cashmira has also expressed Conerns, stating that the bill is against Muslims and exploring the possibility of approaching the Supreme Court. The controversy highlights the ongoing debate on the role of the WAQF meetings and the government’s movement to amend the existing law.
