The Minister of Health of Telangana C. Damodar Raja Narasimha has ordered officials to take strict measures against private hospitals to deliver unwanted caesarean sections. Highlighting the need to stop unnecessary caesarean sections, the minister requested stricter audits and a renewed impulse to promote normal deliveries.
In a hero of a review meeting on Thursday, the minister said that awareness of the benefits of natural birth and the risks associated with caesarean section should be shared with pregnant women and their families from the early stages of prenatal care. To increase the number of normal deliveries, hey, they also propose the training of midwives for nurses working in government health centers.
The minister emphasized the need to improve infrastructure in maternal and child health centers and urged officials to create conditions that encourage women to opt for delivery in government hospitals.
The minister also investigated the onboing recruitment process in government hospitals. The authorities informed him that around 8,000 positions were filled last year and that the process to fill more than 6,200 additional positions is currently in progress.
