Hurriyat chairperson Mirwaiz welcomes interim SC directions in Waqf Act case

The president of Hurriyat and the chief cleric of Kashmir, Mirwaiz Umaro Farooq, on Thursday (April 17, 2025) welcomed the intermediate instructions issued in the requests of the WAQF Law by the Supreme Court.

“The Supreme Court that makes some difficult government questions about the WAQF amendment law, and its provisional position that new members will not be added to the Waqf meetings and that the properties of ‘WAQF-by User’ will not be denotified. Farooq said.

He said that great intermediate instructions “wait for Muslims, who admire SC as their last resort of relief and justice.” “We hope that the Superior Court revokes this partial and excessive act against the interests of the permanent Muslim community,” Farooq added.

J & K’s prime minister, Omar Abdullah, said that the observations of the Supreme Court and the subferential rise of the Government of the Union “reinforced our belief that we were right in our decision to address the tallest court on Earth to challenge the WAQF law.”

“We hope that the court will issue an integral trial that addresses all the concerns of the Muslim community,” said Abdullah.
