Uttar Pradesh Police recently used a conconental method to resolve an unusual case of alleged robbery of lamb in Kanpur.
The incident occurred on April 12, duration of the weekly Samadhan Diwas at the Kalyanpur police station.
The dispute
Chanda Devi, a resident of Gooba Gardens in Kalyanpur, sent her husband to a Government Veterinary Hospital with her 20 -day lamb for sterilization. Along the way, he faced Bagiya Crossing for another woman from the same town, Meena, who claimed the lamb as his and accused him of theft. There was a heated argument, it quickly became a police issue.
Two statements
Both women arrived at the Kalyanpur Police Station, each firmly claiming the property of the same animal. “I raised goats for years, and I know my lamb. He was born in my courtyard only three weeks ago,” said Chanda Devi before the officers. Meena, equally safe, said: “This lamb has been missing in my house. Be his voice and marks, I’m sure it’s mine.”
“It was a strange case. We could trust only verbal claims.
THE PEOPLE SHOW
The station quickly transformed into an impromptu patio in the village. The locals gathered for Samadhan Diwas persisted, captivated by the drama that develops. “It was like seeing a scene by Panchy Panchayat from a movie. People forgot their own cases and began to see the history of the goat,” said Rajev Mishra, a merchant present at the police station for an unrelated issue.
Little of that, both women returned with their goats. Chanda Devi brought a white goat, while Meena brought a black. The officers instructed both to wait outside the doors. Then, the lamb was placed a short distance from both goats and released.
The Lamb reacted instantly, once tended and threw himself into the white goat. Without hesitation, he begged Suckling, stroking and spraying around his alleged mother. Laughter, applause and even cheers exploded among the spectators gathered.
“There was no doubt,” said Sho Sudhir Kumar, smiling. “The Lamb knew exactly where he belonged. We saw his own eyes: the link between the mother and the child does not lie.”
Justice without paperwork
“This was justice without paperwork,” said Shanti Lal, a local farmer. “In the villages, we say that a child always knows my mother, even animals. Today, the police showed that old wisdom is still true.”
Meena, although disappointed, gently accepted the result. “I thought it was mine. But maybe I made a mistake. The way he ran towards his goat … I can’t argue with that,” he said.
“They arrived in his maa,” said Chanda Devi. “I didn’t need to say anything. He told the truth itself.”
“In today’s fast rhythm systems, sometimes the most honest answers come from nature,” said another officer.
