Government committed to make India self-reliant in defence sector: Rajnath Singh

Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, on Friday (April 18, 2025) said that the government is committed to making the country self -sufficient in the defense sector and already has several steps tasks in this direction.

Going to the representatives of the industry in Chhatrapati Sambhajinar (Aurengabad), Singh said that defense exports have increased from ₹ 600 million rupees in 2014 to ₹ 24,000 million rupees.

“Our goal is to achieve (exports of) RS 50,000 million rupees for 2029-30,” he said.

The Government led by BJP has tasks of several important steps to achieve self -sufficiency and declared articles that will be manufactured and indigenous will not be imported, he said.

Defense production is ₹ 1.60 Lakh Crore today and the goal is to increase it to ₹ 3 Lakh Crore, said the minister.

He sees a good potential in Chhatrapati Sambhaji Nagar as a production center, said Singh, adding: “You have a mature industrial ecosystem here. Come to me with concrete proposals.”
