CBI takes over case of Chhattisgarh ex-bureaucrats, former AG influencing NAN-scam probe

The Central Investigation Office (CBI) has tasks about investigation into the accusations of two officers of retired IAS and a former state general defender in Chhattisgarh misuse their positions to influence the investigation into the alleged Nagrik Apurti Nigam.

The case against Anil Tuteja and Alok Shukla, and the former AG Sable Chandra Verma, were registered by the Wing of Economic Crimes of the Chhattisgarh police last year and the investigation was later transferred to the CBI by the state government. CBI’s FIR was recorded on April 16, an official said.

According to the first information report (FIR), Mr. Shukla and Mr. Tuteja, while working as public servants in the Chhattisgarh government, allegedly used their official positions badly to provide an undue advantage to the then general defender, satisfaction Chandra Verma.

The FIR states that this was done with the intention of incorrect influence the performance of public duties. The three are accused of conspiring to alter official documents and procedural information related to the senior officials of the State Economic Crime Investigation Agency. Supposedly these changes were made to manipulate the content of the responses presented to the Superior Court in relation to the Civil case Supplies Corporation (AP00 09/2015), favorably for the accused.

This, he adds, was done so that they could obtain the benefit of the early bond.

The alleged scam belonged to the acquisition of rice and salt below the standard by NAN, the Chhattisgarh Nodal Agency to acquire and distribute food grains under the public distribution system. The officers’ duo was among the 18 people reserved by the Office of Corruption.
