A leader of the Manipur Congress has sought the safety of the state government after rumors on social media platforms linked him to the case of the ‘audio tapes’ allegedly involved to former principal minister, Nongombam Biren Singh.

He said he has not involved the leg in the case of ‘audio tapes’ that are heard in the Supreme Court. “I have not signed any Pray Altatnama (Authorization of legal documents a lawyer to represent a client) on behalf of the petitioner or the defendant, “said Friday (April 18, 2025).
Mr. Meitei, a member of the Executive Panel of the Law Department of the Committee of the Congress of All India, said that some people with created interests have been disseminating rumors to Tarismh their image and that of the party.
He asked the governor and others “to immediately stop the dissemination of rumors and false news that falsely link my name in a disconnected case …”. He said such rumors have threatened his life and property.
The Center on Thursday informed the Supreme Court that the Forensic Report on the authenticity of the audio tapes was ready and would appear on a sealed roof.
A person is supposedly heard in the tapes that are responsible for ethnic violence in the state.
