KCCI urges HDMC to roll back tax hike, warns of Hubballi-Dharwad bandh

Making an exception to what is treated as an indiscriminate increase in the property tax and other harassments by the municipal corporation of Hubballi Dharwad, the Karnatak Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Kcci), a representative body of the body of the merchants and industrialist of the hallway -Hoast -Hech.

He also asked citizens not to pay tax increase until the problem is solved.

The honorary secretary of Kcci Mahendra Singhi highlighted the lack of basic comfort, the lack of maintenance of underground drainage, bad roads and inadequate segregation of waste. He said that while taxes were collected in almost everything, the Municipal Corporation had failed to guarantee the appropriate comforts and services to the public.

Anand Shanbhag, of the Citizens Forum, said that taxes and allegations had reviewed according to the guidelines of 2022-23. “However, no official was bothered to raise the taxes reviewed from 2022-23, and now the amount of the public’s difference is sought, which is unfair. Why should the public be punished for the errors of the officials?”

Mr. Shanbhag questioned the justification behind the imposing cessation of solid waste management and underground drainage use rate for vacant sites.

The carrier of the Office of the Stamp Sellers Association, Shanharaj Pol, said that for the fiscal years 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25, the property tax had increased at a rate of 3% per year, which makes an increase or 9%. “What is worrying is that a 24%rate is imposed on interest at the rate. Consequently, the property tax has increased by 200%to 300%,” he said.

Mikesh, representative of textile merchants, said the lack of integral development work in the city in recent years and said that without improving infrastructure and comfort, the municipal corporation had taxes.

A large number of representatives of several organists, including Suresh Kiresur, Ashok Kunnur, Ashok Bhandari, Prakash Rao and others expressed their views, the meeting questioned the rational behind the tax walk.
