Israeli prime minister Benjamin Netanyahu called on Sunday for full dismantling or Iran’s nuclear program, insisting that any agreement with Tehran must also address their ballistic missile abilities.
“You have to dismantle their nuclear infrastructure and that means … they do not have the ability to enrich uranium,” he said in a speech in Jerusalem, and added that anyone should also “bring the prevention of ballistic missiles.”
“The real business that works is the agreement that eliminates Iran’s ability to enrich uranium for nuclear weapons,” said Israeli Prime Minister.
“Iran will not have nuclear weapons,” he added.
Western governments have long suspended Iran to pursue a capacity of nuclear weapons, an ambition that Tehran has constantly denied, insisting that its program is only for peaceful purposes.
Iran and the United States, which have been enemies since the Islamic Revolution of 1979, held a third round of nuclear conversations mediated by Oman on Saturday.
Both Tehran and Washington reported progress in the conversations, and an American official called them “positive and productive”, while Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Arahchi said that the work would be carried out to “reduce the different” between the sides before another round of another round of another round of another.
A 2015 agreement between Iran and the main powers that limited their nuclear activities in exchange for facilitating international sanctions collapsed after the president of the United States, Donald Trump, abandoned him three years later.
Since he returned to the White House, Trump has asked Iran to negotiate a new agreement while threatening to take military measures if he does not.
