In a thrust decided towards the increase in green coverage in the Kalaburagi region, the vice president, Commissioner B. Fouzia Taranum, launched a large -scale sprout planting campaign on June 5, which is celebrated as a worldwide environment.

The initiative was launched under the flag of the ‘Amrit Mitra’ campaign in the public garden in Gokul Nagar, Shahbazar area. The event was organized jointly by the District Administration, the Corporation of the City of Kalaburagi and the Forest Department.

The deputy director of Commissioner Fouzia Taranum emphasized the role of community participation, especially for women, in the creation of a more sustainable and green kalaburagi. The campaign carries the slogan ‘Women for trees’, reinforcing the leadership of women in the conservation of the environment.

“As part of the campaign, around 2,000 young people will be planted in public parks and open spaces in the city of Kalaburagi under the motto of ‘Women for trees’. Young people are distributed to the members of the registered women’s self -assessment group. Responsible for planting young people for August 31, and who caress them for a period of two years. Taranum said.

Pointing out the objective of the forest department of plantar or 4.43 Lakh offspring of more than 1,060.50 hectares of land throughout the Kalaburagi district in the financial year 2025–26, Mrs. Taranum asked people to join the initiative to make Kalaburagi a clean and green district.

“It includes block plantations of more than 567.50 hectares under the social afforestation initiative and plantations on the road that extend up to 350 km. Around 1.64 LAKH will distribute offspring to the general public, farmers and organizations under the program,” he said.

Kalaburagi, which has forest coverage of less than 5%, falls within the Kalyana Karnataka region, where all districts have forest areas below 10%. The new planting unit aims to address this ecological imbalance substantially increasing green coverage in the region.

The event was attended by the Police Superintendent, Adminu Srinivasulu, the Commissioner of the City Corporation, Avinash Shinde, deputy conservative of Summit Patil forests, attached commissioner of the RP Jadhav Corporation and municipal and present personnel.
