This occurs after the stones were allegedly thrown into the police and their vehicles caught a protest on the WAQF (amendment) law in the Murshidabad district dominated by the Muslims of Western Bengal, the authorities said.

The WAQF amendment law, 2025, which was approved by both Chambers of Parliament last week after two days of marathon debates and the assent of President Droupadi Murmu, entered into force on Tuesday.
