The portal of the local self-government department of Kerala, K-Smart, now expands to the level of Panchayat after its successful implementation in municipalities and corporations a year ago.

As of today (Thursday), Kerala residents can register births, deaths and Mariages, pay property taxes and request construction permits without the need to visit the local government offices. You can access these services from anywhere in the world using a phone.
Developed by the Kerala Mission of Information (IKM) for the Department of Local Self-Company (LSGD), the K-Smart service has now extended to all levels of local governance, including 87 municipalities, 6 corporations, 941 grams of Panchayats, 152 Panchayats de Cuadras and 14 Panchayats of the District.
Since its launch in January 2024, K-Smart has prosecuted a total or 35.65 LAKH of files, with 26.98 Lakh (75.7%) successfully resolved before March 31, 2025. The platform uses advanced technology completely.
Citizens can now track the progress of their applications online, see who is handling them and knowing how long each application remains in each desk. In addition, certificates can now be recovered through WhatsApp, eliminating the need to visit local offices.
According to MB Rajesh, the Minister of Local Administration, Taxes and Parliamentary Affairs, Kerala has become the first state in the country to implement the marriage record through the KYC video through K-SMART.

The minister also declared that one of the main problems faced by people were obtaining construction permits, but now, in Acidage, a permit can be obtained in nine seconds.

According to the Kerala government, the greatest advantage of this system is that it eliminates bureaucracy, delays and corruption.
