₹12.90 lakh stolen from ATM in Choutuppal, CCTV cameras found defunct

Hyderabad

A total of ₹ 12.90 LAKH of the cash chest of an ATM in Choutuppal was stolen in the early hours of Wednesday.

The theft came to light later that night when a representative of the response of the third party agency for maintenance, the ATM filed a complaint with the local police.

“The ATMCTV cameras of the ATM were not functional. The time exactly of the theft and the number of culprits involved are uncharge,” said the police.

Choutuppal police have registered a case and launched an investigation. Forensic teams have inspected the site and are collecting evidence, while images of nearby establishments are examined to track any movement around the ATM.

Police suspect that theft could have been carried out by familiar people with the ATM maintenance schedule and security vulnerabilities.
