In 2022, the JPMorgan Chase CEO, Jamie Dimon, called the cryptocurrency “Decentralized Ponzi schemes” at a hearing of the Financial Services Committee of the United States House. “I am a great skeptic in cryptographic tokens, which you call currency, like Bitcoin,” he said at that time.

The rival Morgan Stanley has allowed customers to buy Bitcoin ETF since August 2024.

Dimon has long cited Bitcoin’s risks, including money laundering. In Davos last year, he called him a “pet rock” that “does nothing.”
