A world -class education, special from a better classified school and university, can put it in an incomparable life and career trajectory. Education is an investment that prepares it for long -term professional success, a network of distinguished peers and personal growth that comes with the search for objectives and achievements.
Ten years ago, I was accepted in the Darden School of Business, University of Virginia, constantly described a Top 10 MBA program worldwide. A global education of MBA has put my life and career on an unimagalble trip of incredible learning, growth and experiences.
Over the years, it is a personal mission to share my experience with those who embark on this trip. I have advised and trained hundreds of students to be accepted in their universities of first option. My observations about students who break the universities of dreams reveal 7 common attributes and features.
As you prepare to follow an education from the main institutions worldwide, build these attributes in your professional and personal life brings it to the university of your dreams.
- Understand and recognize why the University of your dreams is. Is the brand? Is it the powerful network? Is the location? Is it the curriculum? You ‘why’ it drives you. The more you understand your motivations, the more it will remain motivated. The school is not the end, it is simply a means for an end. Recognize and realize this from the beginning.
- Start your preparation and investigate early. Dream universities need to nourish and time. Make due diligence on websites/internet. Talk to current students, former students, admissions, teachers, second/third/fourth grade connections at the university of their dream. Ask them questions that you did not find answers online. Due diligence clarifies your thoughts and helps eliminate options for now for now.
- Distinguish yourself in any way possible. Go to your interests and play with your strengths. Some ways to do this are for the best academic qualifications in Mintain, the standardized crack tests, point to prestigious awards, acclaimed recognition, published research papers, build thought leaders, becomes an expert in the field.
- Identify potential careers and develop a relevant work experience. These are internships, full -time jobs, starting periods, corporate companies, family business or shading professionals; Understand what careers you want to enter after school and what it implies. An education is a means for a career. Entering the title with an objective will allow you to make the most of it.
- Find and perfect passions outside academics and work. The best schools are looking for a holistic candidate alive out of 9-5 and qualify. Grant to create impact, result and raise people and communities around them. Run a marathon for a cause, advising a non -profit organization, voluntarily in a school with little resources; Exhibit leadership and a complete personality.
- Be consistent with all the above. Build excellence in your profile on a sustained period of time. The impact and the result need time. Follow your interests and keep it motivated and inspired. Take breaks as necessary, but always return to it.
- Enjoy the process and avoid taking too strongly. University admission is a self -discovery process. It is not so much about being admitted to the school of their dreams, but the process of establishing objectives, measuring them, working towards them constantly and finally achieving them is what is really satisfactory. After all, the school of your dreams is just a springboard to live a complete real life.
As part of my personal passion for mentoring students, I have seen hundreds of students assume the admission process of the discouraging university both at the undergraduate and postgraduate level. Having personally passed through the process, I can say for sure, the trip to destiny is equally gratifying.
