One of the most vibrant and colourful Hindu festivals, Holi, also known as the “Festival of Colours” and Dol Jatra, or “Basanta Utsav,” in West Bengal, Assam, and Tripura, is a festival celebrated by Indians with great enthusiasm and joy.
Holi’s origins trace back to a Hindu mythological story about Hiranyakashyap trying to kill his son Prahlad for refusing to worship him instead of Vishnu.
His sister Holika attempted to burn Prahlad alive; however, contrary to their plan, Prahlad survived the fire unharmed, while Holika burnt—symbolising the triumph of devotion and righteousness.
