From Dengue to Rare Diseases: Rising Health Challenges in India

The monsoon season isn’t just about making everything greener. It also brings back something we all know pretty well: mosquito-related diseases. Dengue is becoming common in different parts of India, from Haryana to Chennai.

Dengue cases are going up in Haryana. From July 30 to August 27, there were over 200 new cases, making a total of 318. Rewari has the highest number with 88, followed by Gurgaon with 48. The good news is that there have been no deaths from it so far.
Things are changing quickly in our state. From now until March 2027, everyone needs to report any outbreaks of insect-borne diseases, as the Epidemic Diseases Act requires. If you work at a private hospital or lab, you need to report any cases you find within a day. Plus, ELISA tests now cost around Rs. 600 at 27 places. We hope this makes it easier for people to get tested early.

Hospitals in Pune are seeing more dengue and chikungunya cases these days. By August 20th, there were about 1,169 suspected dengue cases, and 41 of them were confirmed. Doctors have also seen more people with arthritis who recently had a virus. Taking care of yourself early, doing the right exercises, and using things like salt water soaks and stretching at home can stop problems from becoming long-term issues.

India’s health situation is always changing, but now we’re seeing a mix of dengue fever, health problems after viruses, and more focus on rare diseases all at once, which is new. The good thing is that we’re quickly adjusting by capping costs from testing, making rural clinics more useful, and spreading awareness in communities. If we put money into watching out for diseases, building up our health system, and spreading the word, we can protect many people in the future. Instead of just talking about preventing illness, Let’s make prevention the most helpful thing we have for people’s health.
