Weather Change Impact in Delhi-NCR: Rise in Flu, Cough, and Viral Fever Cases
The impact of changing weather is clearly visible in Delhi-NCR these days. Due to fluctuations in temperature and increasing pollution, cases of cough, cold, and viral fever are rising rapidly.
Shocking Survey Reveals 54% Households Affected
A recent survey has revealed alarming statistics, showing that 54% of households have at least one or more sick individuals suffering from flu-like symptoms. The number of patients with flu and viral infections is increasing due to the seasonal transition. Unlike usual colds, which subside in a few days, this time patients are experiencing prolonged illness.
According to a LocalCircles survey, nearly 54% of households in Delhi-NCR have someone suffering from flu or COVID-like symptoms, a significant increase from 38% recorded in August last year.
Survey Conducted on 13,000 People
The survey was conducted on 13,000 residents of Delhi, Noida, Gurugram, Faridabad, and Ghaziabad, including 63% men and 37% women. It revealed that flu symptoms are lasting longer this time, with many patients being sick for more than 10 days.
Survey Findings
- 9% of people reported that four or more members in their household are sick.
- 45% of households have 2 to 3 members suffering from flu.
- 36% of participants said no one in their house is sick.
- 10% of respondents were uncertain about their household’s health condition.
Why Are Viral Cases Increasing?
Experts suggest multiple reasons for the surge in viral infections, including:
- Seasonal changes
- Rising pollution levels
- New viral strains
- Weakened immunity
Survey respondents reported symptoms such as fever, cough, body aches, sore throat, and fatigue. Many patients have been sick for over 10 days, which is a cause for concern.
How to Stay Safe?
- Wear a mask: Use a mask in crowded places to prevent infections.
- Maintain hand hygiene: Wash hands regularly and use sanitizer.
- Boost immunity: Consume foods rich in Vitamin C and Zinc.
- Exercise regularly: Helps strengthen the immune system.
- Consult a doctor: Seek medical advice if symptoms persist.
