The president and the members of the 16Th The Finance Commission appreciated the WhatsApp government initiative of the Andhra Pradesh government. 16Th The Finance Commission team visited the Secretariat of Andhra Pradesh in Velagapudi on Wednesday.
Prime Minister N. Chandababu Naidu explained the WhatsApp government model to the delegation. He stressed that the government was working for a system where citizens could access public services through WhatsApp, eliminating the need to visit the offices.
“The objective is to provide up to 1,000 services through WhatsApp,” Naidu said.
Arvind Panagariya, president of the Finance Commission, said it was impressive that the main minister gave a detailed presentation on financial issues and the depth of analysis on growth indicators and efforts to seek central assistance.
Mr. Panagariya asked Mr. Naidu if this innovative model had been taken to the attention of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Mr. Naidu replied that he had planned to explain the project during his meeting with the prime minister scheduled for next month.
The member of the Finance Commission, Anne George Mathew, recalled her visit to Hyderabad 30 years ago, observing the remarkable development of the city since then, that she accredited the vision of Mr. Naidu.
She expressed her confidence that Amaravati would develop with similar standards.
Mr. Naidu recalled how Mr. Panagariya had recreated transfer the Polavaram project to the duration of his mandate in Niti Aayog. “Our goal is to complete the Polavaram project before the next Pushkarams,” Naidu said.
Mr. Naidu praised the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, under which India is evolving towards a developed nation. “Being mocked by slow growth, India is now the fifth largest economy and will become the third largest by 2028. By 2047, we will be the largest economy in the world,” he said.
