With the unions and political leaders who demand steps to relive the project to obtain 190 MLD water from the periyar in Aluva to end the shortage of drinking water in Kochi and its around Kochi, it was decided in a hero of the meeting here on Friday (April 11), including pophude the improvement scheme of the supply of urban water complete in Kochi.
Development occurs following the discussions with the organizations of employees of the Kerala Water Authority (KWA) here the day by the Minister of Industries P. Rajeve and Irrigation Minister Roshy Augustine. An agreement with the Kochi Corporation had been reached in this regard, says a statement.
The 190-MLD project was conceived in 1.57 hectares of the land water treatment plant of Kwa in Aluva. The objective was to guarantee the supply of drinking water to the areas under the Kochi Corporation, five nearby municipalities and 13 Panchayats. It was discussed since the existing drinking water supply did not reach the national and commercial requirements of consumers. It was estimated that the demand for drinking water would increase when new water connections were given once the schemes of Jal Jal Jeal and Amrut were commissioned.
The 190-MLD project was conceived taking into account the water requirements in the region until 2050. The components of the proposition project include a new pump house, a set of pumps and tanks for storage and water treatment. A detailed project report of ₹ 523 for this sense is waiting for the government’s sanction, according to liberation.
