Alleging that the president of Kannada Sahitya Parishat, Mahshi Joshi, had ignored the basic principles of democracy in his administration, a section of writers and activists from Shivamogga has the state government to appoint an administrator for the Parishat.
At a press conference in Shivamogga on Saturday, social lawyer and activist KP Sripal said Mr. Mahesh Joshi, since he took over the president of the Parishat, had been the behavior as a dictator.
Mr. Joshi had issued a notice to Mr. Manjunath, democratically elected the president of the Shivamogga district of Parishat, just because he (Manjunath) raised questions at the executive meeting.
“Mr. Joshi is making decisions against the law. If this trend continues, the Parishat will lose its stature. The state government should appoint an administrator for the Parishat and conduct an investigation against Joshi. They will deliver a protest for it,” said Sripal.
Honnali Chandrashekhar, a journalist and member of the life of Parishat, said that Joshi had modified the statute to nominate members to the Parishhat Executive Committee with voting powers. With that, he could make any decision and obtain that ratified by the Executive Committee, since the nominated members would support him.
In addition, he had scheduled some more amendments at the next meeting of the general agency scheduled to be held in Nandihalli in the Ballari district on April 27. Most of the changes intended to increase powers, said Chandrashekhar.
“The scheduled meeting should have organized in a place where a large number of members can attend. However, it has organized the meeting in an auditorium of a university in Nandihalli, where only a few sunk have been deceived. Do it,” he said.
Mr. Chandrashekhar also suggested that the members of the Parishat’s life participate in the general body meeting and oppose amendments to the statute.
