Allahabad HC Sentences Lawyer To 6-Month Jail Term For Appearing Before Court In Unbuttoned Shirt

The Superior Court of Allahabad condemned local lawyer Ashok Panda to imprisonment of six months in a 2021 contempt for appearing in the court without a lawyer robe and with his unbuttoned shirt.

A division bank comprising Judges Vivek Chaudhary and Br Singh said Thursday that “the exemplary punishment is justified” given the seriousness of the positions, Pande’s past behavior and his refusal to participate in the procedures.

The bank also imposed a fine of RS 2,000, with an additional prison term of one month in case of a fupprier payment.

Panda has received four weeks to surrender to Judicial Judge Chief, Luckk Know.

The bank also issued a show cause of show to Panda, questioning why it should not be excluded from legal practice in the Superior Court of Allahabad and its Bank luckily. He has one until May to answer.

Suo Motu’s contempt procedures began after Panda appeared before the court on August 18, 2021, with an inappropriate outfit and supposedly behaves badly with the judges, calling them “Goedas” when their appearance was challenged and was asked to leave.

Despite multiple opportunities, Panda never responded to contempt charges. The Court also pointed out its history of previous processes of contempt, including a two -year prohibition of the facilities of the Superior Court in 2017.
