“Br Ambedkar was not only a leader for the nation, but a global icon in the struggle for equality that dedicated his life to eradicating social inequality,” said Forest and Environment Eshwar Khandre.
He was heading to the public after garnishing the statue of Dr. Ambedkar that commemorates his 134th anniversary of birth in Bidar on Monday.
Mr. Khandre said Dr. Ambedkar has really become a global icon in the fight against injustice. He vehemently opposed the caste system in India 100 years ago and Activent worked to eradicate it through his writings and social movements.
Dr. Ambedkar’s most durable legacy is his message of education, organization and struggle.
“Educating, agitation, organization” was not just a slogan but a vision for life. He fought for the rights of all oppressed sections in society, social marginalized dalits, women oppressed by gender and economically impoverished workers, Khandre added.
The architect of the Constitution of India considered education as a tool for social transformation and also believed that without education, the oppressed cannot find the way to progress, he said.
Dr. Ambedkar played a fundamental role in the drafting of the Constitution, granted each individual right based on equality and freedom and also a new ideal of humanity, he reiterated.
The minister said that Dr. Ambedkar was not simply a leader of his time, but that it was a timeless guide and a source of inspiration and asked young people and all citizens to hug their vision to build a truly equitable society.
Municipal Administration Minister Rahim Khan and Janata Dal leader (secular) Kashempur Banda were present.
