The Andhra Pradesh state cabinet, chaired by Prime Minister N. Chandababu Naidu, approved the ordinance project on Tuesday to implement the subcategorization of castes (SC) scheduled in the state.

Aimed at the integrated and equitable development of the sub -hosts, the cabinet, after a proposal from the Social Welfare Department, approved the classification of the 59 SC communities in the State in three categories based on its population, delay and social.

Addressing the media in the Secretariat, the Minister of Water Resources, Nimmala Ramanidu, said that the cabinet approved the subcategorization and soon an ordinance would be issued.

The Government would also issue a notification of the District Selection Committee (DSC) to fill teachers’ positions, and SC subcategorization would be applicable to it. The Government would fill the publications of the teachers before the start of the academic year, he added.

The Minister of Social Welfare, Dola Balaveeranjaneya Swamy, said they took 12 castes under group I, and that 1% reserve was destined for them. Similarly, 18 castes that are part of Group II would obtain a 6.5%reserve. The third group was composed of 29 castes with 7.5%reserve, he said.

“The ordinance aims to guarantee equitable access to education and job opportunities between SC communities, and will be implemented in the 26 districts. A 200 -point list system will be used in two cycles of 100 points each,” said the minister.

Interior Minister V. Anita said that the government caused the opinions and suggestions of all caste organizations. Taking into account the 2011 census, the entire State would be treated as a single unit. As soon as the next census was completed, each district would be consulted as a unit, he said.
