Anil Jaihind named new head of Congress’ OBC wing

A day after the session of the Committee of the Congress of All India (AICC) in Ahmedabad approved a resolution to mark organizational reforms, Congress on Thursday (April 10, 2025) appointed a new boss for his other backward class (OBC).

Dr. Anil Jaihind (Yadav) has been appointed president of the OBC wing of AICC, replacing the captain. Ajay Yadav (Ret

Mr. Jaihind, an outstanding social activist, had recently joined the Congress Party, while Capt. Yadav is a veteran of Haryana’s party. However, since Congress lost the surveys of the Haryana Assembly last October, Captain Yadav has openly criticized state leadership, including former Prime Minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda.

In the Ahmedabad AICC session, the party reiterated its commitment to social justice.

In a related development, the party has relieved Alok Sharma of his duties as secretary of AICC for Punjab. The party did not assign any reason, but declared that Mr. Sharma would continue to be a media panelist.
