India has no intention of intensifying the situation with Pakistan, but there are military attacks against the country, then it will be with a “very” firm response, the Minister of External Affairs said Thursday.

Mr. Jaishankar made the comments at a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

The Minister of External Affairs said that Pahalgam’s terrorist attack “Bárbaro” forced India to carry out attacks on “cross -border” terrorist infrastructure on Wednesday.

“This attack forced us to respond on May 7 by attacking the cross -border terrorist infrastructure. Our response was attacked and measured,” he said.

“It is not our intention to increase the situation. However, if there are military attacks against us, there should be no doubt that it will be with a very very firm answer,” he said.

Mr. Jaishankar said that as a neighbor and close partner, it is important that they will understand the situation well.

Iranian Foreign Minister landed in New Delhi around midnight last night on a scheduled visit in the midst of growing tensions between India and Pakistan.
