Customs data showed that all Foxconn shipments to the United States in March were air from Chennai’s air load terminal and landed in several places, including Los Angeles and New York, with Chicago receiving the majority.
Later, Trump granted exclusions from pronounced tariffs on smartphones and some other imported electronic products largely from China, but then indicated that exemptions will probably be short -lived.
To accelerate shipments, Apple Indian airport authorities pressed to reduce the time needed to eliminate customs at Chennai airport in the southern state of Tamil Nadu, up to six hours from 30 hours.
At least six cargo jets were used in the operation, which a source described as a form of “overcoming rates.”
