A 16 -year -old child sexual abuse survivor has given a sketch along with a grade of gratitude to a sub -inspector of the Assam Police for helping her clean her class 10 exams.
The girl said she grew up with the perception that all police staff was bad, but changed her mind after she met Pratibha Bora from the Satgaon police station in Guwahati.
The sub -inspector helped the girl overcome her trauma and to look at life ahead.
“If each police (man or woman) is like Pratibha Baideo (old sister), children like me will receive a lot of help,” wrote the survivor, and added that he found hope, strength and inspiration of women in uniform to find a purpose in life.
“I want to become a police officer like her,” the girl wrote.
“The feedback of children and their families is crucial to assess the impact at the ground level of the Sisku Mitra program of the Assam Police, allowing a deeper understanding of their effectiveness and areas of improvement,” Miguel Das Queh, the founder.
Ussah, 14, expands to the universal team for social action and help, which has been associated with Assam’s police along with Unicef Assam to help children in trouble.
The Sisku Mitra program was launched in 2019 to promote children’s surveillance in Assam.
