At least 69 killed in thunderstorms in India, Nepal

At least 69 people were killed this week in unusually intense storms in the state of Bihar of Aastern India and in neighboring Nepal, authorities said on Saturday (April 12, 2025).

While sudden floods and rays kill thousands of people every year, scientists warn that worldwide temperatures are unleashing a waterfall of extreme weather events.

Bihar’s disaster authorities said on Saturday (April 12, 2025) that at least 61 people had died in strong thunder and ray storms on Thursday (April 10, 2025) and Friday (April 11, 2025).

Eight more people were killed in neighboring Nepal, disaster officials said. AFPBlaming “Lightning Strikes” on Wednesday (April 9, 2025) and Thursday (April 10, 2025).

It is forecast that heavy rains will come to Bihar again on Saturday (April 12, 2025), Childhood to the local office of the Department of Meteorology of India.

Last year, experts warned that climate change was feeding an alarm in mortal rays in India, killing almost 1,900 people a year in the most popular country in the world.

Lightning fell 101,309 deaths between 1967 and 2020, with a strong increase between 2010 and 2020, said a team of researchers led by Fakir Mohan University in the eastern state of Odisha.
