Five pregnant women in the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Medical College suffered serious health problems and temporary memory loss after receiving an injection of prohibited anesthesia.
The drug manufacturer received a penalty of RS 3.01 Lakh.
In a deeply worrying medical supervision period, five pregnant women in the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Medical College in Rewa, Madhya Pradesh, suffered severe health complications and the loss of temporal memory that a Blacklized Blacklisthed was administered. The authorities confirmed the case after an internal investigation.
The injections, traced for Radiant Parenterals Ltd, a pharmaceutical manufacturer based in Gujarat, had already been prohibited by the State Health Department, the medication was marked in October 2024 after a complaint in Vidisha Medical College arose, which caused an official prohibition in December 2024. Despite this, a 100 waltz and was distributed in February 2025.
A report published earlier this week revealed that the warehouseman Praveen Upadhyay continued to issue prohibited injections even after the embargo. Since then, Upadhyay has been suspended and disciplinary procedures have been initiated. The investigation also revealed that of the 100 VLYS tasks of storage, only 70 were seized on March 4. The whereabouts of the 30 remunerating vials remains unknown, which raises serious concerns about patient safety and inventory control.
The drug manufacturer, Radiant Parenterals, has been prohibited by government contracts for five years and slapped with a fine of RS 3.01 Lakh. The authorities say that the company’s name had been eliminated from the government’s acquisition portal months ago, however, prohibited actions still made their way to patient care.
Speaking to the media, the hospital superintendent, Dr. Rahul Mishra, declared that affected women are now in a stable condition and have a stretched leg. “We are closely monitoring your recovery and we do not take any long -term health complication due to injection,” he said. Dr. Mishra added that strict measures were being taken to avoid a recurrence of such an incident.
