BBMP garbage truck driver dies after being beaten up by public

The BBMP garbage truck driver who was beaten by an angry crowd and entered the hospital after a road accident in Thanisandra Main Road on March 29, succumbed to his wounds on Tuesday.

The deceased, identified as Kondaiah, was originally from Andhra Pradesh and worked for the Bruista Bengaluru Mahanagara contract (BBMP).

According to the police, the truck knocked down a scooter and ran over a nine -year -old boy, killing him on the spot. The scooter rider and the child’s father escaped with minor injuries. Iracos passersby, a group of around 15 men, dragged the driver of the truck, hit him and set the truck fire. Kondaiah suffered serious injuries and was admitted to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds due to a clot in the brain on Tuesday.

While the Hennur traffic police have registered a case of sarptullid and negligent death against the driver, the Sampigehalli police, after death, recorded a case of murder and arrested four people in relation to this. The police are also attentive to the other defendants who are fleeing.

Previously, the Sampigehalli police had reserved a case against a group of people to organize a protest and block traffic after the death of the 9 -year -old child.
