The Indian Bar Association (BCI) has condemned the attack on its co -president, Yr SadShiva Reddy, main lawyer, in his private office in Bengaluru on April 16.

In a statement, the president of BCI, Manan Kumar Mishra, has declared that the injuries suffered by Mr. Reddy are not “not random injuries, they were blows destined to silence, paralyze and intimidate a superior defender and an elected representative of legal fraternity.” Mr. Reddy is chosen for the BCI of the Board of Laws of the State of Karnataka (KSBC).

According to the first information report (FIR) registered by the Halasurgate Police in the city of Bengaluru based on Mr. Reddy’s complaint, two people arrived at their office around 8.30 am

Meanwhile, Vivek Subba Reddy, president of the Advocaties Association, Bengaluru, while condemning the attack, has appreciated police efforts by arresting the accused person within 12 hours after the incident. The AAB will celebrate a demonstration in Bangalore on April 21 to protest against the incident of attacks against lawyers.

The BCI has also urged that defenders, regardless of their rank or position, must receive police protection in their homes and offices if they face any credible threat. The offices of the law councils and the cameras of the Bar Association must receive institutional protection, including security audits, CCTV surveillance, panic buttons and police presence 24 hours a day, the BCI has demanded.
